Hamish Thwaites Ltd was an idea conceived on a bicycle camping trip in Albania, in 2024, where mountain shepherds and labourers carried out their work in striking, weathered tailoring. Hamish was inspired by these crafted garments, which had been shaped by a lifetime of wear, and when he returned to London he began to develop his first menswear pieces.
Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, Hamish studied fashion design at Toronto Metropolitan University and relocated to Britain in 2015. He spent a decade establishing himself as a womenswear pattern maker in London, first at Erdem where he spent nearly six years honing his craft, and later at Victoria Beckham where he became the tailoring specialist draping all in-house tailored styles for five years. In autumn 2026, Hamish launched his debut trousers under his own name. Piece by piece he is carefully building a wardrobe defined by its simple shapes, exceptional fabrics and construction, and small scale local production.
